Tips for using the microwave properly

It sounds simple: open the door, put the container in, press the button, and wait a few moments ... But if you want to get the most out of your microwave, here are some tips on how to use it well:



For even heat and good cooking, do not fill containers to the maximum.

Use suitable containers. Avoid plastics that are not designed for this purpose as they can melt and / or burn with excessive heat. Do not place metal objects.

To avoid burns, use a cloth or glove to remove dishes from the microwave.

If you don't want food to dry out, especially meat and fish, it is best to cover it. You can use a glass bell, baking paper or a bowl.

Wait a few seconds before removing the cover at the end of cooking. This will prevent you from burning yourself with the water vapor. But you will also prevent the product from losing moisture and aromas through evaporation.

Give your recipes a personal touch by using flavored oils. How to make them? Put your favorite herbs or spices (rosemary, thyme, bay leaf, chili, curry, paprika ...) in a cup of olive oil. Heat in the microwave for about three minutes at maximum power. Then use this oil in your favorite recipes.

Do you want to peel citrus fruits more easily? Put them in the microwave for 20 seconds at maximum power. This trick is also used to get more juice from oranges and lemons.

To obtain a "soft" butter as indicated in many recipes, place the butter for 1 minute in defrost mode. This method also allows the chocolate to melt instantly.

Toast the almonds or hazelnuts by placing them in the microwave for two to four minutes at 75% of maximum power, stirring them every minute.

Unplug the appliance each time you clean it.
